Reliable Senior – Learning to Live in the World of Modern Technology

In July 2021, a project entitled “Reliable Senior – Learning to Live in the World of Modern Technology” was launched in Radom. The project is implemented by the Kombinat Social Engagement Association in Radom.

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy under the Active+ Multiannual Programme for Older People 2021–2025, 2021 edition.

The total grant awarded for the project is PLN 59,890.00.

The project is aimed at people aged 60 and over living in Radom and the municipalities of Jastrzębia and Kowala.

The programme is designed not only to provide educational activities through which older adults from the region can gain the knowledge and skills needed to use information and communication technologies safely in their everyday lives, but also to provide support and community-based activities.

Learning About New Technologies

As part of the 20-hour educational programme on new technologies, participants will explore topics including:

online safety;

protecting personal data online;

the basics of using different technological devices;

using various computer programmes;

discovering features and functions that can help participants make better use of their mobile phones.

Support Activities

The support activities are designed to promote wellbeing while strengthening participants’ psychological and physical needs, supporting their day-to-day functioning and helping them feel more confident navigating today’s modern world.

In other words, the project helps older adults stay connected with the world around them and keep up with today’s technology.

Community & Social Activities

Another important part of the project is creating opportunities for participants to spend time together outside the educational sessions.

These activities provide space for relaxation, social interaction and building relationships. They include:

themed social evenings;

volunteering;

group outings;

a study visit.

Small Groups, Individual Approach

Due to the ongoing epidemiological situation at the time, activities were organised in small groups of five participants.

This approach helped maintain the required health and safety measures while also creating a friendly, supportive atmosphere and allowing for a more individual approach to each participant.

The “Reliable Senior” project is implemented with funding from the Active+ Programme.
